Lufthansa keeps the classic European allowance: a 55 × 40 × 23 cm carry-on bag of up to 8 kg for the overhead locker, plus a personal item of 40 × 30 × 15 cm under the seat. Watch the weight rather than the size — 8 kg is tighter than most low-cost carriers.

The rules

Most fares include 1 carry-on bag at 55 × 40 × 23 cm, up to 8 kg.
You can also bring 1 personal item at 40 × 30 × 15 cm — laptop bag, handbag or small backpack.
Business class allows two 8 kg carry-on bags.
Some Economy Light fares on short-haul routes are hand-baggage-restricted — check the fare conditions when booking.
There is no published gate fine: oversized bags are moved to the hold.
