KLM hand luggage allowance
55 × 35 × 25 cm hand baggage plus an accessory — 12 kg combined.
KLM's hand baggage is 55 × 35 × 25 cm — 5 cm narrower than most European airlines, which catches out a lot of standard 40 cm-wide trolleys. On top of that you can bring an accessory of 40 × 30 × 15 cm, with 12 kg allowed for both together.
The rules
- Standard fares include 1 hand baggage item at 55 × 35 × 25 cm plus 1 accessory at 40 × 30 × 15 cm.
- The 12 kg limit is the combined weight of both items (18 kg in Business).
- Note the 35 cm width — bags built for the common 55 × 40 × 23 cm European standard will not fit KLM's sizer.
- On the cheapest Basic fares hand baggage isn't always included — check the fare conditions when booking.
- Oversized bags are checked into the hold at the gate.

FAQ
What is KLM's hand baggage size in 2026?+
55 × 35 × 25 cm for the main hand baggage item, plus an accessory of 40 × 30 × 15 cm. Together they may weigh up to 12 kg in Economy.
Why doesn't my cabin bag fit KLM?+
KLM allows 35 cm of width where most European carriers allow 40 cm. A 55 × 40 × 23 cm trolley is 5 cm too wide, even though it passes on Lufthansa or Wizz Air.
